Gospel Reflection- 11/15/2020

Today’s Gospel picks up right where last weeks left off. Our Lord is preparing the people how to be ready and to handle what God the father has given them. Last week’s Gospel concludes with “Keep awake therefore, you know neither the hour nor the day.” (Matthew 25:13)

Jesus wants us to not wait until the end to do the things God expects of us now. As we trim our lamps, or shave away the bad, we must refill it with oil, the fruits of our labor. The parable today speaks about the three servants, two went out with the coins and doubled the investment because they were proactive and not afraid to use what was given to them. The third wanted to hide it and protect it like a toy that’s never taken out of the box.

The master is rightfully upset with the last servant because he generously gave him an opportunity to make some money and squandered his efforts. God the father gives us each talents, traits, and characteristics specific to us. God intends for us to use these blessings to sow the seeds for new fruit to be born, that we may bless someone else with them or bring more people home to the father.

Do not hesitate to show the world what God has given you, do not miss your opportunity to use them to bless others because it may be too late and when the feast begins, you’ll be off fetching oil.

God Bless,
Jonathan
