Advent Reflection- Day #10 (Feast of Saint Ambrose)

In today’s Gospel reading, Jesus gives a parable of the lost sheep. A good shepherd leaves the 99 behind and finds the 1 and rejoices even more. This passage serves two purposes. One, it is instructions to these men who will go on to be priests and Bishops how important it is that every soul returns to the Father for it isn’t His will that any go astray. The role of these men is to be shepherds to the flock entrusted to them.

What does this passage say to us? Not only must no one cause a fellow disciple to sin, but those who have been strayed must be sought out and, if possible, brought back to the community. Jesus has set us a challenge today to go out and look for the one, are you going to accept?

God Bless,
Jonathan
