Prayer for a Priest

Picture

O Jesus, our great High Priest, Hear my humble prayers on behalf of your priest, Father [N]. Give him a deep faith, a bright and firm hope and a burning love which will ever increase in the course of his priestly life.

In his loneliness, comfort him In his sorrows, strengthen him In his frustrations, point out to him that it is through suffering that the soul is purified, and show him that he is needed by the Church, he is needed by souls, he is needed for the work of redemption.

O loving Mother Mary, Mother of Priests, take to your heart your son who is close to you because of his priestly ordination, and because of the power which he has received to carry on the work of Christ in a world which needs him so much.

Be his comfort, be his joy, be his strength, and especially help him to live and to defend the ideals of consecrated celibacy.
Amen.

Prayer for a Religious Brother or Sister

Picture
Heavenly Father, in your wisdom you have called certain women and men to a life of special consecration so that in prayerful observance of a lifestyle of poverty, chaste celibacy and obedience, they might be witnesses to us that as St. Paul says, "our true citizenship is in heaven." Give them, Lord, the grace of joy and perseverance in their holy vocation. We ask this through Christ, our Lord.

Prayer for Deacons

Picture
Heavenly Father,
since the time of the Apostles
you have inspired the Church
to commission certain members
to assist in a special way
in the pastoral mission of Christ.
Bless the deacons
that they may be humble
        and faith-inspired in their service.
We ask this through Christ, our Lord.

Prayer for Seminiarian

Picture
Lord Jesus, I ask your special blessing on all young men preparing for the
priesthood in our seminaries. I pray that they will grow in faith, hope, and
charity. May their hearts overflow with your compassion, understanding, and
generosity, and may their desire to serve you inspire others to answer your
call. Lord, give our seminarians the grace to follow you more perfectly. When
they are lonely or discouraged, fill them with your peace. Jesus meek and
humble of heart, make the hearts of our seminarians like yours. Amen.

Pray for Vocations!

Picture
Dear Holy Spirit!

Please help those who hear Your call only as a whisper, that they may know that it is You calling them to service.  May You fill those You call with the grace and courage to respond to Your whisper. I will pray, encourage and support those whom You have chosen for church vocations! Amen.

A Prayer for One's Own Vocation

Picture

God our Father, life is your gift to me. Through baptism, you invite me to share in the gift of my life in service to others. Be with me as I choose each day to show your presence in our world. Give me the courage and generosity to respond to your love, to your call. I pray especially for those who serve you as priests, brothers, sisters, deacons and lay ministers. Keep them close to you. Open the minds and hearts of many other men and women that they may accept your challenge to build the Kingdom. Amen.
